Farmers Markets Opening Up
It’s so exciting to see that the farmers markets are opening up for the season, despite new rules and regulations required of them due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Minden market on Esmeralda Street began yesterday (5/19/20) and will continue every Tuesday afternoon from 4–8 pm for the season. The Gardnerville market will still take place on Wednesday mornings from 8 am to 1 pm (starting 5/27/20) but at a new location: Heritage Park. In addition, according to the Record Courier, this “market will be renamed the Main Street Farmers Market…”
Other changes include needing to register for a time slot at the Main Street market in order to attend. More details can be found at Sierra Chef.
Homeowners Preparing to List After the Pandemic
According to this article from Realtor Magazine, “about 77% of potential sellers are preparing to sell their homes once stay-at-home orders from the COVID-19 pandemic are lifted, according to a newly released survey from the National Association of REALTORS®.”
Buyers are slowly starting to reemerge as well. Interestingly, though, some of their priorities have changed. Many, for example, have changed their neighborhood preference to a more suburban setting (vs urban) as a result of the pandemic. Check out the article for more details.

The coronavirus pandemic has kept us all cooped up much more than we may like but one of the things we can still do is get outside and go for a hike. Provided we continue to practice social distancing around other hikers, it’s a great way to stretch our legs and get some fresh air.
This article from the Record Courier lists some great trails right in the Carson Valley that you can take advantage of. Some of these trails include the River Fork Ranch hike, the Bently Heritage trail, Stephanie Steeps, and the Tahoe East Shore Trail.
