Staying Safe Amidst COVID-19

March 26, 2020 by admin

I want to assure you, during these difficult times, that we at RE/MAX Realty Affiliates are making sure to take the necessary precautions in order to reduce the risk of spreading the coronavirus. So, what are we doing? First off, our office is now operating “by appointment only”. In addition, those who do enter the property are required to answer the following four health status questions first:

In addition, all showings of our listings—with the sellers’ consent—are requiring the following occur prior to entering a the home:

We of course are also practicing “social distancing” and disinfecting surfaces as much as possible. We are driving separate cars to showings, and are not hosting open houses until further notice.

This is such a rapidly evolving situation, but if we work together we can all get through this. Stay healthy!

Shred Event & Donation Drive

March 16, 2020 by admin

Tax season is upon us! Once you’ve filed, you may find that some spring cleaning is in order. Our annual office Shred Event for our preferred clients is scheduled for Saturday, April 18, from 9 am to 12 pm this year—so make sure to save the date! Prevent identity theft by securely shredding your outdated bank statements, bills, legal agreements and other personal documents.

We will also be hosting a donation drive at the same time for the Douglas County Animal Shelter. You can bring dog and cat food (canned and dry), cat litter, cleaning supplies, hard toys, treats, etc. to the RE/MAX office during the Shred Event. I look forward to seeing you there!

Reno named one of the 15 ‘hottest’ real estate markets for the next decade

February 4, 2020 by admin

With large companies like Tesla and Panasonic making their way to Reno, plus the added benefit of no state income tax, the area’s real estate market has been booming. In fact, according to this article from the Reno Gazette Journal, it’s set to be one of the 15 hottest markets for the next decade.

This sounds like great news for the area, but there is also a downside. Many are worried that due to rising median home prices and incomes that have failed to keep pace, the area could begin to see affordability issues similar to many areas in California.

According to the article from RGJ, “The city of Reno recently launched a program called “1,000 Homes in 120 Days” to help spur construction of more dense “missing middle” housing such as townhomes and condominiums by delaying development fees.” Only time will tell if the housing supply will be able to keep up with the demand.

Khristopher’s Café has recently moved from their Mica Drive location in Indian Hills to Downtown Minden. They are now housed in the old Minden Food Co. building at 1599 Esmeralda Ave. Their menu, according to this Record Courier article, will remain unchanged—offering the home-style Italian cuisine patrons have come to expect.

In addition to the new location, the restaurant is hoping to add music and dancing to its offerings. “During dinner hour more classic jazz, with more of the crooner style during the early dinner hour,” said Manager Chris Burns to the Record Courier. After dinner stops being served around 9pm, the restaurant will transition to more of a club atmosphere.

Kristopher’s is open 7 days a week. For more details and to check out the menu, head over to their website.

The county commissioners recently approved zoning for a 75-home development north of Genoa. The development project, Genoa Shares, was originally denied in January. Still up in the air, according to this March 7th Record Courier article, “is whether those homes will be single owner or developed as tourist commercial.” Check out the article for more details.

North Sails, a world-renowned sail-making company, just so happens to have 2 manufacturing facilities right here in the Carson Valley. The Minden North Sails products are sent all over the world.  In fact, in the 2017-2018 Volvo Ocean Race, which spans over 45,000 nautical miles, every single boat in the race used sails manufactured in Minden (Source: The Record-Courier).  North Sails was the official supplier of the 2017 America’s Cup as well.
